A sitcom about HENRY McNEELY, a neurotic young book editor who is assigned to edit best-selling horror writer IAN STARK. As the eccentric Stark struggles with writer’s block, Henry is charged with the task of shaking him out of it. In return Stark enjoys playing shocking practical jokes on Henry, believing that it helps his work watching the people around him react to real-life horror. The high-strung Henry – who suffers from a variety of phobias including a fear of germs – is constantly on edge after being thrust into Stark’s dark and chaotic world.
Providing distractions as Henry tries to keep Stark on track are Stark's dazed writing assistant, JAKE DONOVAN, sassy bartender/college student MADDIE KELLER and Stark's overly affectionate dog, EDGAR.
